Heather

My good friend Liza of Sweet Life Studio let me join her and our friend Heather to take a few portraits. Heather has the best laugh and sense of humor and was a joy to photograph!

A Few Nature Shots

Here are a few pictures of nature I took for a photography class I took at UVA last fall...do my Mom's flower pots count as "nature"? :)

More Light Writing

A few more "light writing" photos from the past couple weeks. The angel is in the cemetery on the street where I grew up, and I've been wanting to photograph her at night for a while.

Maia's Portraits

My dear friend Maia agreed to let me take some photos of her (and her Westie, Jules) for my first portrait class assignment. Maia's getting married in about two weeks! I'm hoping to steal her and her fiance Martyn for a few photos before the big day.

Light Writing and Painting

I've been really into "light writing" lately and see things daily that I'd love to experiment with in that capacity. Here are my favorites that I've taken recently. (My boyfriend Patrick was kind enough to co-model with me in the first couple.)

Bringing my old Stradivarius violin back to life.

Took a few more in the cemetery down the street last night and will post those soon!

Back to School... sort of.

I'm currently taking Portrait Photography with Stacey Evans at Piedmont Virginia Community College. We had our first session last night and I have to say I'm already really glad I'm taking it- a variety of experience levels among the students and a knowledgeable and down-to-earth teacher. I can tell I will learn a lot and find it really valuable to have my work evaluated by a room full of people. Have a couple portrait assignments for next week and will be looking for subjects... anyone interested??

PVCC offers a good number of non-credit "continuing education" classes- I've also signed up for Travel Photography and attended a Marketing Your Photography seminar earlier this Spring. Definitely worth checking out if you live in the area and want to take classes in a variety of subject areas!

Will hopefully be posting some slideshows soon. A photography blog kinda needs some photographs, huh? :)
